Savory Hub

White Oak Pastures is proud to be named 1 of only 23 Global Savory Hubs.

Founded in 2009 by Zimbabwean biologist-farmer Allan Savory, the Savory Institute facilitates the realization of a life of enduring returns for the land and all that depend on it. Allan became among the first to understand and publically discuss the degradation and desertification of the world’s grassland ecosystems. Researching extensively on his own land, Allan developed a system, using livestock, to restore our precious soil. For centuries, we were told that livestock were a major cause in the degradation of our environment, but instead, Allan was able to understand that it was how those livestock were managed that was to blame.

White Oak Pastures is proud to practice as a Hub, putting these regenerative grazing practices to work on our 3,000-acre farm. Working in tandem with the Savory Institute, we strive to create awareness in the marketplace for products produced in truly regenerative systems. We participate in the EOV (Ecological Outcome Verification) program, which takes monthly samples from transects scattered over our farm. These samples prove that managing our farm using holistic, regenerative grazing practices allows us to sequester carbon, control erosion and increase the organic matter in our soils. It’s truly a win for our livestock, our land, and our community.
